Filter reference

Every filter in the search engine, one by one: what it does, what values it takes and which network it exists on. If you're not sure yet how a search is run, start with Searching in Discover.

How to read this page

Discover's filters fall into two families that you can combine freely:

  • Creator filters: they describe the influencer themselves (how many followers they have, where they live, what they talk about, how their posts perform).
  • Audience filters: they describe their followers (where they live, how old they are, which gender is dominant, what share of them are real). They live in the Audience (advanced) section.

The left-hand panel shows the essential filters first, and the rest below, grouped into Demographics, Performance, Content, Account and Audience (advanced). The View all filters button opens them all at once in a wide panel, split into Quick and Advanced filters, with the active-filter counter and the Search and Clear filters buttons.

Creator filters

Profile and demographics

Who the creator is: the size of their account, what they say about themselves, and where and in which language they post. This is where almost everyone starts narrowing down.

Performance

How their posts do: how much interaction they get, what view counts they reach and whether their community is growing. These separate the profiles that perform from the ones that are merely big.

Audience filters

These filters don't look at the creator, but at who follows them. They're the most powerful way to get a campaign's audience right, and also the most restrictive: each one requires a percentage of the audience to meet the condition.

FilterWhat it doesValues
Audience countryWhere their community lives.Autocomplete with multiple selection. Each country requires around 20% of the audience, as the field itself warns: Spain, France… (weight 20%).
Audience genderThe dominant gender among their followers.Any, Mostly women or Mostly men. “Mostly” means roughly 55%.
Audience ageThe dominant age brackets among their followers.Multiple selection: 13-17, 18-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-64 and 65- (that's how the last one is written in the interface, and it means 65 and over). Each bracket weighs around 30%.
Audience interestsTopics their followers care about. The same closed catalogue of interests, with a weight of around 20%. Instagram only.
Audience credibility (min.)The minimum percentage of real followers.A percentage from 0 to 100. In AI Search it shows up inverted, as Fake followers (max): the maximum share of fake followers you'll tolerate. Instagram only.

Which filters exist on each network

Instagram and TikTok don't offer the same data, so they don't offer the same filters either. This table lists only the ones that differ; the rest (followers, bio, gender, age, location, language, engagement, engagements, followers growth, similar to, hashtags, keywords, last post, verified, email, and audience country, gender and age) exist on both.

Behaviours worth knowing about

The bio filter requires every word

Bio or full name works with AND logic: if you type two words, the profile has to contain both. Order and capitalisation don't matter, but every word you add cuts the set down further. A two-word search returning nothing isn't a bug: start with a single word and add the second one only if you have results to spare.

Interests is a closed catalogue

It isn't a text field: it's a fixed list of around thirty broad categories. Very specific topics simply don't exist as an interest. For those you have three better options: Hashtags / mentions, Keywords in captions and Bio or full name.

Audience is filtered by dominance, not by presence

Asking for Spain under Audience country doesn't return creators with “some” Spanish followers: it returns those whose audience is around 20% Spanish. The same goes for gender (a “mostly” sits at about 55%) and for age brackets (close to 30% each). That's why combining several audience filters empties your results so fast.

You can't filter activity of less than 30 days

Last post (days) has a minimum of 30. If you're looking for creators who were active this week, no filter will do it: use the value 30 and discard by hand, or keep an eye on the No recent activity label on the cards.

The sliders move in steps

Followers doesn't take arbitrary figures: it moves along the steps of the scale (1k, 5k, 10k, 25k…). If you need an exact cut-off, use AI Search, where From and To are free fields.

You can touch as many filters as you like without spending anything: the search only runs when you press Search. Once it has run, changing page or sorting does re-run it on its own with the same filters.

The autocompletes are closed dictionaries

Location, language and brands are always picked from the list the dropdown suggests, because they come from our data provider's dictionaries. Typing a value that doesn't show up in the suggestions filters nothing.
